AboutMusic Technology SIG

The Music Technology Special Interest Group began informally in 2006 as the Music Education Technology group. It became an official SIG under ISME at the World Conference in 2012.

Mission

The Music Technology SIG serves as a global forum for sharing research and knowledge related to the development and application of technology in music education. Topics include, but are not limited to, artificial intelligence (AI), makerspaces, gamification, mobile learning, digital musical instruments, and accessible, immersive, and emerging technologies.

Aim

As technology has become commonplace in music education, the aim of the Music Technology SIG is to provide a central focus for the dissemination of ongoing developments.

Activity

The Music Technology SIG fulfils its mission by curating a series of events and World Conference sessions that raise awareness of current and future practices in the integration of technology in music education. This includes a close partnership with the Journal of Music, Technology and Education a publication that shares the SIG's vision.
